January empties

Another month has passed, another bunch of products are used up. This time I managed to finish a lot of makeup products. It’s a longer post so grab a drink and make yourself comfortable. Without further ado, let’s get into this.

Makeup products

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation in the shade Fuji Peony 01

This foundation had a light to medium coverage. It came with a sponge and built in mirror, which made it a perfect product to take with you for the day. I definitely did that. On days/weeks when I had a nasty cold it was very helpful. After every nose blowing, I “powdered” my nose over with the cushion foundation. It was a lifesaver and helper in making me look better. It was also a nice product for no-makeup makeup days.

Would I repurchase? This was sent to me but if I didn’t have four foundations currently in use, I would.

Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder in the tone 025 Sand Beige.

On the package it said that it is long lasting, ultra-fine, shine control powder with light-reflecting pigments for a satin-matt and even complexion. It also promised to last up to twelve hours. It didn’t last for twelve hours but more like seven or eight hours. I personally wasn’t bummed because of it. It was a decent budget friendly powder.

Would I repurchase? Yes

NYX HD Finishing Powder

The powder gave a matte, luminous glow. I have quite oily skin and sometimes it can get shiny throughout the day. With this powder I didn’t have to worry, It kept my skin’s shininess at bay without a problem.

Would I repurchase? I already have.

E.l.f Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 Sunscreen

The moisturiser was with Aloe, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C, and E. I bought it for days where I didn’t bother with full makeup. At first I really liked it but as the months passed, I wasn’t enjoying it as much anymore. The quality was decreasing quickly and in the end I just didn’t want to use it because of all the extra effort I had to put in to get a decent result. I got it in May 2016 and it started to get bad already in August. From August it just stayed in my makeup drawer. So technically speaking, it’s an August empty.

Would I repurchase? No.

Skin care products

The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Gel Wash

It was a face cleanser with mineral rich seaweed from Roaring Water Bay Ireland. I used it as a first step of my morning routine and the second step of my evening routine. It cleansed my skin well. The product removed my makeup without any trouble and gave me a clean feel. It foamed nicely and smelled even better

Would I repurchase? I already have

The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

It was an alcohol free toner for combination/oily skin. It was my first experience with this product. I have used seaweed masks and scrubs before, but not the toner. I used it twice a day as a part of my morning and evening routine. The toner felt cooling and nice on my face. After using it, my skin felt fresh and clean. I also loved the scent of the product. Plus, it mattified my skin which is always nice for me.

Would I repurchase? I already have

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover

The eye makeup remover did a fantastic job. When I used it, I held a cotton pad on my eyes for fifteen seconds. After that I gently wiped my eye makeup off.

This formula was gentle on the eyes. I didn’t have to rinse my eyes after nor did I feel any soreness. I was positively surprised with the product. Plus, did I mention how good the packaging looks?

Would I repurchase? I already have

The Body Shop Almond Conditioning Hand Wash

It was a soap-free cleanser for hands and nails.  The formula was infused with sweet almond oil and Community Fair Trade Brazil nut oil. It also had a light almond nutty scent. I really liked this hand wash because I could clean my hands while treating my nails with oils. In my opinion it was quite an effortless way to make sure you give the necessary vitamins to your nails. The bottle lasted me for quite some time because I used it only when I wasn’t wearing nail polish.

Would I repurchase? i already have.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

I used this on the most furious zitastrophies to fight them. It also helped immensely on mosquito bites and cold sores. I don’t know how it is in other countries, but in Estonia, there were a lot of mosquitos this summer. The oil was a perfect partner in crime to kill those stubborn bumps. With few days the pimples and bites started disappearing.

I applied it with a q-tip on problematic spots through the day/evening on previously cleansed skin.

Would I repurchase? I already have.

Dr Irena Eris Micellar Solution Makeup Removal

I liked this micellar water. It removed even the thicker makeup layer without a problem. For that I had to go over my face twice but none of the less, it worked.  The water had a fresh, slightly rosy scent. I loved that it didn’t make my skin feel oily after using it. I have noticed, a lot of micellar waters tend to do that. The packaging looked sleek and classy as well.

Would I repurchase? Probably

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

This was a slightly tingling clay mask which was infused with with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves, and organic tea tree oil. All those components made it perfect for combination/oily skin like mine. It promised to draw out impurities and refine appearance of pores for healthy looking skin.

I applied the charcoal mask mainly to my jaw area, on my nose, and between my brows. On certain days I also applied it on my forehead. It just depends where I feel I need the charcoal and tea tree power the most at that moment.

The scent was fresh and clearing.

After the mask my skin was soft and smooth. My pores appeared smaller and skin felt pure. The mask also absorbed excess oil and gave a healthy glow. On my zitastrophie area it helped to dry uninvited guests.

You can read about the longer review about the mask here

Would I repurchase? It was sent to me but yes I would. I really liked the mask

Holika Holika Pig-Nose Clear Black Head 3-step kit

It was basically a sticker mask for the black heads on the nose. I usually don’t get them but those few I had, it pulled out. I liked the packaging and it was also a good product.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would
Purederm masks

I wrote a longer post about these last week. You can read about them here . If you don’t have that much time, I can say that they were all great masks. They did what they promised and left the skin/hair soft.

Would I repurchase? They were sent to me.

Shower products

The Body Shop Early-harvest raspberry shower gel

It had such a good fresh raspberry scent. When I smelled it, it took me right back to a warm summer day when I was eating fresh raspberries right from the bush. The shower gel was soap free so even people with more sensitive skin should be able to use it.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would

The Body Shop Passion fruit shower gel

It was a repurchase for the third time at least. I am not sure if it is a limited edition or not. I buy it only when the Body Shop has a bigger sale few times in a year. The passion fruit had a sweeter but slightly spicy scent. This product had also a soap free formula.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would

The Body Shop Early-harvest raspberry body scrub

The scrub looked like freshly mashed raspberries in jam form. If I didn’t knew better, I would try to eat it. The smell of the scrub is just so wonderful. On my skin it is smooth but you can still feel the scrubbing effect.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would

Delon Argan Oil from Morocco

I used the oil after the shower. After washing my hair, I let it dry in the towel for ten minutes. Then I combed it through, poured some oil on my palms, and applied it on the tips of my hair. First few strokes went to the tips and then I applied leftover oil on all hair. It softened and moisturised my hair. The oil also made my hair soft and shiny (in a good way).

  1. Based on your reviews, I’m going to have to revisit The Body Shop. Back in the day, I was a huge fan and somewhere along the line, I just forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it back!
As far as elf’s tinted moisturizer goes, I’m finding that the brand’s products are either love ’em or leave ’em. I really do like their flawless finish foundation–a lot. But the tinted moisturizer and the bb or cc creams are just a WTF? for me. Especially the elf packaging. Every. Single. Pump. product I’ve purchased has broken. And that bothers me to no end. OTOH, I am a fan of the lippies and cream blushes and cream contour. It’s weird.
    Great post!!!

    • Thank you! Yes, The Body Shop products are amazing! 💕 I’m so glad that I have their store near me and I have found myself products that work. I thought the elf tinted moisturiser would be good but I was so wrong. What tinted moisturiser/bb/cc cream you like to use? I like elf lipsticks, and their eyeshadow primer and liquid eyeliner are amazing 😊

  2. Great job on all the empties! So many foundations / powders too. Makeup is always the most difficult to use up for me.
The Body Shop Almond Conditioning Hand Wash sounds great – we don’t have that here yet. I heard TBS will be releasing an Almond collection in place of the Cocoa range.
Hey, I think I have that Holika Holika Pig-Nose Clear Black Head 3-step kit – I’ve been scared to use it. I should just try it… 😛

    • Thank you! It was a great month for empties 😊 Everything just ended at the same time and in the end everything didn’t want to fit into the basket anymore 😂 I don’t know TBS plans with it, but Almond collection is really good.
Don’t be afraid of Holika Holika. The nose patch is mild and doesn’t irritate. It’s a fun mask to do 😊

  3. That’s a lot of products! I usually use up a fair bit of beauty products every month, but I’m currently making my way through a massive bottle of conditioner so haircare has been a low point since I started using that. And is it just me, or do you also run out of things all at the same time?

    • It tends to be that if something runs out, then everything else runs out at the same time. That’s the reason I have months where there is like 6 empties in one month and the next month has 20 empties. It comes in waves.
