Berry lips with NYX

It’s full on autumn outside. Just like every autumn, it’s the best time to rock a good berry lip. In this post I am going to introduce you to my top six berry (or kind of berry) lip tones from NYX.

Matte Lipstick

NYX Matte Lipsticks have a silky matte finish. They feel nice and light on the lips while still staying on for a decent time. The only time you should do a little touch up is after eating. Another thing you should keep in mind, is to moisturise your lips a day before you wear a matte lipstick. When lips are moisturised, the final look is better. On dry lips, matte lip products sit wrong and the result isn’t the best. If you keep that in mind, you are golden to wear any matte lipstick you want.

Dark Era

Dark Era is muted plum colour matte lipstick. It has a deep plum tone which compliments any darker evening look. It glides on well and stays there too.

Merlot is plum red colour matte lipstick. It is a berry pinkish red for people who don’t feel comfortable with darker berry tones. Unfortunately, the picture doesn’t do it justice. It isn’t as pink as it seems on the picture. Funny thing- no matter which camera I use, it still looks pinker than in real life.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have matte velvet finish. On the lips they are so soft and creamy but that doesn’t mean they disappear quickly. No, these little fellas have really good stay on power, but they do need a little touch up after eating. Usually these types of products dry matte within a minute, but NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are already matte while applying. They don’t need a special “drying matte” time which helps you to save time.

Transylvania is a matte, deep violet colour lip cream. This tone is not for the faint hearted and goes better with the night shades. If you wear the tone, you must rock the tone too.

Vancouver is a matte, deep purple colour lip cream. Like Transylvania, it is not for faint of heart makeup lover. This is a statement tone which will raise questions, so you better have answers. This tone is my first choice for autumn parties.

Intense Butter Gloss

NYX Intense Butter Glosses have a glossy finish, hence the name. They glide on well, the applicator is easy to control, and they even survive a light lunch. One of the best things about these glosses is, they don’t leave lips tacky. Yes, you are wearing a glossy lip product but it doesn’t feel like your lips are glues together. So big plus for that.

Toasted Marshmallow

Toasted Marshmallow is a mauve purple tone lip gloss. The gloss stays on well and doesn’t smear. The applicator is a flat doe foot which makes the application easy. It is so beautiful with an evening look, and it compliments my skin well.

Butter Lipstick

NYX Butter Lipsticks are soft creamy lipsticks with a satin finish. They moisturise my lips well, while giving them a nice tone. The pigmentation is good and the stay on power decent. If you are doing your makeup on the run, then this is a good lipstick to own. Any possible miscolouring you make in a hurry, you can just wipe off and go on with your day. The lipstick is forgiving and excellent product for beginners too.

Ripe Berry

Ripe Berry is a deep berry plum lipstick. This is one of my go-to berry lipsticks for daytime. It is easy, quick, and worry free until lunch time. After that it needs some retouching but that doesn’t bother me at all. It is a small price to pay for such a lovely colour and formula.

  1. Hi Adryana! The berry lippies look beautiful–and the photo of you is absolutely gorgeous. You were made for the berries! Unfortunately, at my age of 61, the berries no longer work for my lips–they actually age me more and look a bit harsh. HOWEVER, I am in LOVE with the NYX Butter Glosses. My favorite is the Tiramisu–and I had to run to the store yesterday in a mad rush to pick another one up because Chippy at mine. As in the only part of the gloss that remained was the top! I didn’t speak to him all day!!! Just my luck I have a dog who loves my lipstick as much as I do!!!
The only issue I have with NYX is that the company refuses to acknowledge the older woman. I’ve written to them and have had no answer–as with other cosmetics companies. Its a shame too because as an older woman, I rely on cosmetics now more than I did when I was younger. Shame on NYX for ignoring me!! But I still love their products!!

    • I’m glad you liked the post! 🙂 Their products are so good and affordable. It’s bit sad about your lipstick loving dog, but you know what they say about pets taking after their owners, right? Haha 🙂 As long as he doesn’t hurt himself, his love for lipsticks isn’t the worse thing that could happn. What do you mean NYX doesn’t acknowledge the older women? :/ In my opinion they have every colour you can imagine to go with every single person’s style.

  2. Wow Dark Era is really deep! Out of all the ones you showed, my favourite is Toasted Marshmallow! I’d definitely wear that myself.
I received the NYX Soft Matte lip cream in the shade Copenhagen and I’m scared to wear it full on – I might just dab it and sheer it out. 😛

    • I love Dark Era 😍 It’s a great for vampy looks. Don’t be scared, put Copenhagen on and wear it like you mean it 😎 You’d be surprised how much self confidence stepping out of your comfort zone can give you.
