Top 5 lipsticks for spring/summer

As the seasons change, so does my choice of makeup. I recently switched out my autumn/winter lipsticks to more spring/summer lipsticks, and lip glosses. The only ones which remained the same are in my work essentials makeup bag.

I can divide my summer lip products into three categories, lipsticks, lip glosses and lip creams.

In the lipstick category you can find The Body Shop and Rimmel lipsticks.

The Body Shop Colour Crush in the tone 140 Make My Heart Gleam

It is a beautiful coral shade lipstick. Since the tone is rather modest, it goes well with lighter nude makeup. I noticed last summer that the tone also complimented my suntanned look. The lipstick is infused with a subtle rose scent. I wear it on days where I would like a good moisturiser with a colour.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in the tone 084 Amethyst Shimmer

It is a bright berry toned lipstick which will not go unnoticed when it is on my lips. For me, the tone is an uncommon choice. I usually prefer more red toned lipsticks, but this, for some reason, caught my eye and found its way to my makeup drawer.  The lipstick has a good staying on power, and is a decent moisturizer.

In the lipgloss category you can find Dior and Covergirl.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick in the tone 753 Open Me

This lipgloss is in-your-face type of bright red. Most days I don’t reach for it because it is very intense tone. In my mind, the outfit has to be well thought out to get the tone to match with it. On the rare days when I wear it, it looks wonderful. I love its slightly orange bright red tone and lasting power. The formula is moisturising and easy to apply.

Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolour in the tone 521 Eternal Flame

It is a classical red, long lasting, kiss proof lipgloss. As seen from the package, it has the tone and the gloss in two separate tubes. First I apply the red pigment and then after it is dry, cover it with the gloss which helps it to stay fresh longer. When using this, I have to keep in mind and make sure my lips are moisturised and healthy. On dry lips the product doesn’t look good. Since it has slight metallic glaze, it will make chapped lips appear even more chapped. So, better avoid that.

In the lip cream category there is only one product from my collection.

Etam Cosmetics lip cream in the tone 08 Roseo Et Juliette

I bought it from France last summer. If I had known I was going to love it so much, I would have bought a few more tones. It is taupe pinkish berry toned lip cream. When I use this, I have to keep in mind that it sets with seconds. If I don’t wipe off smudges outside the lip line, it will stain the spot. It applies easily to the lips, and without lip liner it stays on almost the whole day. I can eat and drink without having to freshen it later.

    • Thank you! I’m glad you like my post. Rimmel was a surprise for me. It is one of those products where you think “naah, I’m probably never going to wear it”, and then “bam!” it’s one of your favourites 😂🙊😀
