During the month of December people usually have a lot of different parties to go to. Parties, as we all know, require bit of dressing up and wearing your best look of the day. My life is no different from other’s. Already now, I know I have at least two Christmas parties marked down in my calendar, and they may not be the only ones I will be invited to. So on occasions like these, it is good if you have your go-to makeup look for every outfit or party.
In this post I am going to show you my typical go-to look for events which need celebrating. I am going to use all the products which are pictured below.
For doing full makeup, I always start with applying foundation primer. This time I am using Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. It has a gel-like texture and it leaves my skin smooth. The primer turns the skin into a flawless canvas for applying the rest of the make up.
Next step is applying the eye makeup.
Since Christmas is a “red holiday”, I am going to take a hint from it and do a light pink/dark wine red eye look. For that I will be using tones Sassy, Stubborn, Stand-offish and Sexy form The Balm Nudetude Eyeshadow Palette. I am also going to use a white eyepencil and a black one for defining my eyes.
On the eyelids I am using Sassy, Stubborn and Stand-offish. For defining the crease and lower lashline I use the tone named Sexy. In the process of applying eyeshadows, a lot of blending is needed until you see the look you are happy with.
When my eyeshadow is set, I add a white eye pencil from Etam Cosmetics, (in the tone Beige Toute Nue), into the corners of the eyes. Then I frame my upper lashline with the black eye pencil by Revlon Colorstay, (in the tone 201 Black). The black eye pencil is a good way to create the illusion of a thicker eyelash base.
After my eyes are done, I move on to creating a perfect base for powder makeup. The first thing I do, is apply concealer under my eyes, nose, chin and forehead. The important part of all concealer/foundation applying, is to blend everything properly. I use Revlon Colorstay concealer in the tone 02 Light. You will find my appreciation for this particular concealer in one of my older posts.
When the concealer has been blended out, I apply the foundation. I use Revlon Colorstay foundation in the tone 200 Nude. During blending, I make sure all spots and blemishes get covered up and my skin looks as good as porcelain.
For setting the foundation, I am using YSL transparent pressed powder. It is light on the skin and gives a nice matte finish which perfects the complexion.
Next, I apply The Balm Fratboy blush, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter and Rimmel Natural Bronzer, to give a bit of contour to my face. By the way, I am still testing the bronzer out so I don’t know yet whether I like it or not. Then, I leave all that to set while I do my eyebrows. I briefly talked about The Balm blush and highlighter in one of my older posts.
For my eyebrows I use The Maybelline Browdrama Pro Palette. It has eyebrow gel, powder and highlighter for the under brow area to define the line better. It is a really easy palette to use, even for beginners.
When I do my brows, the blush and highlighter have blended into my foundation so I must add a bit more.
Now, there are only few steps left- mascara and lips.
I am using Rimmel WonderLash mascara, which I talked in one of my older posts.
For lips, I apply a lip pencil by Loreal in the tone Red Wine first, and then I apply lipstick. The lipstick I use is by Loreal from the Zoe collection in the tone Zoe´s Red. It has a nice matte finish and at the same time it is moisturizing.
After completing all the steps, I have the Christmas Party Makeup. All I have to do now, is to loose my hair, get dressed, and walk out the door.
I hope this was interesting, and if you have any comments and/or questions, don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts.
